R.K.Burt & Company was established in 1893 and is the largest paper merchant in the U.K. specialising in very high quality paper for every type of artist use and printmaking technique.

During the 1960’s R.K.Burt & Co. were London agents for Barcham Green who produced hand made papers and the ever popular Bockingford. Manufacture of Bockingford was subsequently moved to St. Cuthberts who continue that tradition , while stocks of hand made paper are now obtained from overseas.

From the 1970’s onwards R.K.Burt & Co. has been the first wholesale distributor to introduce to the U.K. such now familiar mill names as Arches, Fabriano Hahnemühle, Lana, Richard de Bas and Rives.

When it has been considered that these and other mills like St. Cuthberts, Canson and Zerkall have left a gap in the range of papers which they produce, R.K.Burt & Co have commissioned these and other mills to produce a paper to their own or their customer’s specification.

It is the belief that the customer, particularly in the field of art, demands the widest possible choice of paper to suit their particular needs which causes such a large variety of papers to be stocked, including papers from Japan India and Nepal.
