The Iris Printer

The London Print Workshop is an educational charity, which provides training and access to facilities for artists, community groups and individuals. We receives grants to cover running and staffing costs and can therefore provide services at subsidised rates.

LPW is starting a Postgraduate diploma course in Printmaking in the new year. The course will be in conjunction with the University of Brighton and will run a series of credit-rated short courses in printmaking and computer graphics.

The LPW houses an artists printmaking studio, a computer graphics resource and a gallery. We are also preparing a bid for capital funding to the National Lottery. If successful this will allow us to extend the facilities.

As part of the LPW¹s Lottery bid, we are considering buying an A0 Iris printer. The aim being to provide this technology at a price that will allow artists to experiment.

The LPW is interested in finding out about other Art educational bodies that have Iris printers and their experience of using them.

For the Lottery bid we need to show that the running costs, ie technical backup and production costs, can be obtained from charging a minimum cost to the LPW users.

We are interested in seeing if your readers could supply us with any info on this subject..
